PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Run Minnesota Program Director oversees all Run Minnesota Training and group-run programs.   Our programs welcome and encourage new and beginning runners while meeting the needs of more experienced runners. We emphasize a community of support experienced through coming together to run and train with others.  

Key Responsibilities

Preparation, organization, and implementation of Run Minnesota Training and group-run programs.

Spring and Fall marathon and half marathon training programs 

These programs are offered in training blocks for Spring and Fall in lead up to major MN races. They are co-facilitated and led by certified coaches.

  • Coach and collaborate with other program coaches in planning running routes, hydration stations, volunteer Team Leads. Provide good communication and delegate responsibilities for program coaches.
  • Group coaching. Explaining workouts and responding to training questions from participants.
  • Review and update training cycles, mileage, and workouts for multiple fitness levels. 
  • Oversee implementation of weekly “Coach’s Talk” including additional informational speakers
  • Bi-weekly emails to class participants on the “how and why” of weekly workouts. 
  • Responding to email questions about training programs.

 

Polar Bear Group Runs October – February

Track Thursday Group Workout  June – August

These runs are free, open to the public, and are for all abilities with the goal of fostering a welcoming, inclusive community of runners. 

  • Work in collaboration with Group Run Coordinator to establish a weekly run location schedule and coordinate running store and partnership runs.

 

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Recruit coaching staff, group-run coordinators and aid in the selection of team leads and other volunteers who align with our mission, vision, and values.
  • Help identify new program opportunities that further the organization’s mission vision and values with goals of meeting the needs of Minnesota running communities and supporting Run Minnesota Membership and Races.
  • Review and refine programs on an annual basis. Recommend improvements for mission/vision/values alignment. 
  • Review and refine program policies for weather and emergencies.
  • Purchase and maintain necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Work in collaboration with the Executive director on an annual budget for Run Minnesota Programs.
  • Contribute informational training articles for the Annual Training Log Book, Race Calendar, and Resource Guide.

 

Position Title: Program Director

Work Location: Hybrid – 60% Remote and 40% on-site run locations

Position Classification: Part-time, flexible work schedule with an average of approximately 10 hrs per week/480 hours a year.

Reports to: Executive Director

Salary: 12k per year

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Computer access
  • Experience with Asana or a project management tool is helpful but not required

Program Coach

The Run Minnesota Program Coach is a paid position that works to facilitate the logistics of the Marathon and Half Marathon Training Programs.  

These programs have two training sessions a year, February – June, and June – October.  Each session will have two to three Program Coaches with key responsibilities being divided between coaches based on availability, preference, and experience.  There is an average of 100 participants per session for our training programs.  This contract position works in collaboration with the Run Minnesota Executive Director, Program Director and is supported by other Co-Coaches, volunteer Team Leads and entails approximately 10-15 hours per week for 17 weeks.

Key Responsibilities

IN-PERSON – Tuesday nights and Saturday Morning

  • Attend and aid in the facilitation of one/two group runs per week
    • Planning running routes twice a week.
    • Coordination of hydration stations.
    • Communicating with volunteer Team Leads for each pace group at each group run.
    • Group coaching. Explaining workouts and responding to training questions from participants.
    • Point of contact for on-site group runs.

REMOTE – Flexible work hours

  • Adapting training plans for dates and mileage. 
  • Review and update monthly training calendars to reflect your coaching influence.
  • Sending bi-weekly emails to class participants on the “how and why” of weekly workouts.  
  • Communicating with the co-coach(s).
  • Responding to email questions about training from participants.
  • Facilitation of “Coach’s Talk” and informational speakers.

 

Position Title: Program Coach

Work Location: Hybrid – 50% Remote and 50% on-site run locations

Position Classification: Independent Contractor, Part-Time

Reports to: Executive Director / Program Director

Salary: Payment of $1000-$3000 per session based on availability.
